San Antonio Spurs Star Tim Duncan talks about whether he considered retirement after the team won its most recent championship when he visits the LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN, Tuesday, June 24 (11:35 PM-12:37 AM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.  This is Duncan’s first talk show interview since the Spurs won their fifth NBA Championship title on June 15.

“…Did you think about, ‘Well, maybe I’ll announce my retirement after when we win the fifth?’” Letterman asked.  “I did, I did,” Duncan replied. “I thought about maybe calling it a year and calling it a career…but I felt I could at least do one more year. I felt I was still effective.  I felt I could still play and help the team…”  “And let’s just say now one day you do decide to stop playing,” Letterman asked. “What do you see yourself as doing…?  You’re a father, of course.  That’s a huge job.  But what would you like to do after the playing is finished?”  “You know what, honestly, I have no idea,” Duncan said.  “Pop [Spurs’ coach Gregg Popovich] keeps talking to me about coaching or being around basketball.  I’m not sold on that yet.  I love cars and I have a car shop and I mess with that a little bit.”  Letterman, running down the grueling professional basketball schedule, including pre-season, regular season as well as the Olympics, commented, “It would be the travel that I think would be the toughest part of the game.”  “Yeah, well, we’re taken care of,” Duncan said.  “So we travel pretty well, but the schedule’s a grind.  It is a grind, but it’s something you get used to.” “This is great,” Letterman then joked.  “You know what this guy did here?  He just said – and I specify what I think is the most difficult part of it – and he adheres to the theory, ‘No whining on the yacht,’” garnering laughs from Duncan and the audience.

Also on tonight’s LATE SHOW, Rachelle Lefevre from the CBS drama series “Under the Dome,” presents the “Top Ten Questions People Ask Me About the Dome.”  Among the items Lefevre presents include number 9:  “Can I rent the dome for a party?”; number 8:  “Is the dome made of plexiglass or an extruded acrylic?” and number 7:  “Any upcoming love scenes with the dome?”  “Under the Dome” begins its second season Monday, June 30 on the Network.

Duncan’s entire interview and Lefevre’s entire Top Ten List can be seen on the LATE SHOW tonight.

Also featured tonight is an interview with actress Melissa McCarthy from the hit CBS comedy series “Mike & Molly,” who stars in the new film “Tammy,” and a performance by musical guests Phish.

The LATE SHOW with DAVID LETTERMAN is a production of Worldwide Pants Incorporated.  Barbara Gaines, Matt Roberts, Jude Brennan, Maria Pope, Eric Stangel, Justin Stangel and Rob Burnett are the executive producers.  Jerry Foley is the director.
