CBS SPORTS BROADCASTS THE NCAA MEN'S FINAL FOUR FOR THE 21ST CONSECUTIVE YEAR ON SATURDAY, MARCH 30, LIVE ON THE CBS TELEVISION NETWORK

Oklahoma, Indiana, Kansas and Maryland Vie For College Basketball's National Championship

Oklahoma, Indiana, Kansas and Maryland are headed to Atlanta, Ga., for the 2002 NCAA Men's Final Four broadcast live on Saturday, March 30 (6:00-11:00 PM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. CBS Sports culminates its exclusive coverage of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship with the National Championship game on Monday, April 1 (9:00 PM, ET-conclusion) from the Georgia Dome.

The Network's coverage, hosted by Greg Gumbel and Clark Kellogg, tips off on Saturday with THE FINAL FOUR SHOW (4:00-6:00 PM, ET). The first national semifinal begins at 6:07 PM, ET featuring Oklahoma versus Indiana. Forty minutes after the game concludes, Kansas takes on Maryland to determine the final participant in Monday night's championship game. For the 12th consecutive year, Jim Nantz and Billy Packer will be courtside to call the action of all three games. Bonnie Bernstein and Armen Keteyian serve as reporters.

THE FINAL FOUR SHOW will feature tournament highlights, critiques of the four teams and interviews with coaches and players. Contributing to the program will be Bernstein, Keteyian, Dick Enberg and Lesley Visser. Following is a list of pre-game features to be broadcast by CBS Sports:

  • Byron Mouton, Maryland's starting small forward, is dedicating his season to his brother Kevin, who was tragically found shot to death in his car in Houston this past December. Mouton left the team for five days and struggled for two months while grieving for his brother. During that time, his teammates have taken an active role in helping him in his hour of need.
  • Kansas' first team All-America junior forward Drew Gooden continues his on-court transformation into one of the most dominant players in the game.
  • Strictly raised by his grandparents, Oklahoma's Hollis Price has been a model student/athlete for the Sooners, flourishing under his grandparents' upbringing. Price's mom has recently been released from prison, and he is trying to help his mother get her life back on track.
  • Indiana's long and storied basketball history is chronicled from the long shadow cast by Bob Knight to the recent edition of Hoosier Hysteria under head coach Mike Davis.
