CBS SPORTS' AND PGA TOUR'S GOLF REALITY SHOW "PGA TOUR 18 -- GOLF'S ULTIMATE ROAD TRIP" MAKES FINAL STOP
Cross-Country Race to Play PGA TOUR's Most Famous Golf Holes Concludes June 6
Eight individuals embarked on the ultimate golf adventure -- a race to play 18 of the PGA TOUR's most recognizable holes in 12 different states, over nine days. With hundreds of miles separating each hole and multiple holes played each day, skill and stamina will determine the winner. CBS golf analyst David Feherty hosts the finale of PGA TOUR 18 - GOLF'S ULTIMATE ROAD TRIP which airs this Sunday, June 6 (1:00-2:00 PM, ET).
Two four-person amateur teams were chosen from hundreds of applicants and a wide variety of skill levels. The "East" and "West" teams started on opposite coasts and played all 18 golf holes in just nine days. The twist -- the teams had no idea where they were headed from one day to the next. At the end of each day, they were given their next course assignment and had to race against the clock to get to the course and play the hole. The lowest cumulative team score will earn its members a VIP, all-expense paid trip to the 2005 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am next February.
Cameras and wireless microphones followed every move as the two teams made their way across the country in Holiday Rambler motor coaches. Included in each show will be player profiles, course and tournament history, and tips from PGA TOUR players, including Ernie Els, Arnold Palmer and Mike Weir on how to play particular holes.
EAST TEAM
Tom "The Kid" Baron, 30, Caddie, Orlando, FL: A transplanted New Yorker, Tom includes "antagonizing friends" among his hobbies. Working as a caddie at a golf resort has helped him adapt to the slower pace of life in Florida. Handicap: 5.
Matt Borlenghi, 36, Actor, Studio City, CA: Matt's credits include "All My Children," "The Bold & the Beautiful" and "The Jeff Foxworthy Show." His natural penchant to entertain often carries over to the golf course. Handicap: 10.
Lisa Manning, 38, Nurse/Massage Technician, San Clemente, CA: The lone female contestant, this mother and wife learned the game 13 years ago from her fanatical husband. "I had to join him, otherwise I'd never see him." A former college golf standout, Lisa is also a professional photographer who plans to capture the enduring images from the trip. Handicap: 4.
