CBS SPORTS AND PGA TOUR LAUNCH SEASON TWO OF GOLF REALITY SHOW

April 26, 2005

CBS SPORTS AND PGA TOUR LAUNCH SEASON TWO OF GOLF REALITY SHOW "PGA TOUR 18 -- GOLF'S ULTIMATE ROAD TRIP" ON SATURDAY, MAY 7

Contestants Compete in Cross-Country Quest to Play PGA TOUR's Most Famous Golf Holes

Eight individuals are about to embark on the golf adventure of a lifetime -- a competition to play 18 of the PGA TOUR's most difficult and most recognizable holes in 10 different states, over 13 days. With hundreds of miles separating each hole and multiple holes to play each day, skill and stamina will determine the winners. PGA TOUR 18 - Golf's Ultimate Road Trip will be hosted by CBS golf analyst David Feherty. The three one-hour episodes will air May 7, 21, and 28 (2:00-3:00 PM, ET) on CBS.

Eight amateur golfers were selected from open tryouts held across the country and paired into four two-person teams. The teams will battle head-to-head, playing a different hole on a different course each day, and the team with the highest score after six holes will be eliminated. The teams will be cut until only two remain to compete over the final six holes, leading to a dramatic showdown at the final stop of the trip -- the world-famous Pebble Beach Golf Links in California. The last team standing scores a VIP, all-expense paid trip to the 2006 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am next February.

"Anyone who has ever picked up a golf club has dreamed of playing the same beautiful and challenging courses that the PGA TOUR pros play every week," said Stu Nicol, Vice President and Executive Producer of PGA TOUR Productions. "You put eight strangers together in a Marathon motor coach for two weeks on a cross-country golf adventure with a prize to Pebble Beach at stake and there's bound to be some drama."

The teams will play some of the greatest holes the PGA TOUR has to offer, including the famous "island" hole, #17 at the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass, home of THE PLAYERS Championship; #18 at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club, site of the 2005 U.S. Open; #9 at East Lake Golf Club, home of THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola; and #18 at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Cameras and wireless microphones will follow every move as the two teams make their way across the country in Marathon motor coaches. The teams will receive updates and video trivia through their Cingular wireless phones. Each show will also feature PGA TOUR player profiles, course and tournament history, and tips from players on how to play certain holes, including Sergio Garcia, Jay Haas, Davis Love III, David Toms and 2006 Ryder Cup team captain, Tom Lehman.

CONTESTANTS

Roland Bassett, 50, Cypress, TX -- A business development manager for a technology company in Texas, Roland has been married for 17 years and has three children. He has been playing golf for 20 years and is almost entirely self-taught.

Dana Batiste, 39, Houston, TX -- A former linebacker at Texas A&M (1984-1987) who was drafted by the Dolphins, Dana saw his NFL career cut short by a knee injury sustained in a pre-season game against the Eagles. Now a six handicap, Dana's favorite PGA TOUR player is Vijay Singh because of his tireless work ethic.

Petar Frease, 34, Marina Del Rey, CA -- Petar is a self-described professional "button-pusher" who works as a personal assistant to an executive producer in Los Angeles. Known on the golf course as the Crazy Croatian, he is also a highly-respected 2nd Lieutenant in the California National Guard and volunteered in the Croatian Civil War in 1993. His most prized possession is a George Steinbrenner autographed baseball.

Kori Goulet, 23, Barrington, NH -- Kori is a 3-handicapper who learned the game at the age of five by emulating her dad's swing. She played golf at Boston College and won the New Hampshire Women's Amateur Championship in 2001 and the New England Intercollegiate Championship in 2003. Her most prized possession is her Seinfeld DVD collection and she lists Phil Mickelson as her favorite PGA TOUR player. Kori is the lone female contestant on the show this season.

Clarence "Chip" Greene, 29, Jacksonville Beach, FL -- Chip prides himself on staying calm in stressful situations. He has been playing golf for over 16 years and says winning the gold medal at the Allianz (corporate) Olympics in Milan, Italy was his greatest accomplishment on the course. He admires PGA TOUR professional Stewart Cink for his great swing and contributions to the community.

Troy Hitt, 32, Humble, TX -- This married father of four held a PGA of America teaching card from 2002-2004, after shooting a 71 in the final round of his Player's Ability Test. The mild-mannered Texan doesn't drink and claims he never loses his temper. His favorite PGA TOUR player is Davis Love III, because he is "the perfect gentleman and a professional who puts his family first."

Justin Kuehn, 28, Jacksonville, FL -- A marketing manager with an eight handicap, Justin organized Vince Carter's Charity golf event in Daytona Beach several years ago, and lists playing golf with NBA All-Star James Worthy as his best golf highlight.
