Angela Hill has been an integral force at WWL-TV for more than 35 years, joining the station's "Eyewitness News" staff in 1975. After three decades of being invited into thousands of local homes every weeknight, and becoming a broadcast icon in the New Orleans market, Hill retired from nightly newscasts in April 2013 but remains with the station, producing documentaries and special programs.
Hill graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Journalism in 1972. She then assumed the roles of Anchor, Reporter, Producer and Assistant News Director at two small television stations in her native Texas, Angela and gained the kind of multi-faceted experience that propelled her to the top as one of the industry's most trusted local news personalities.
Only months after joining WWL-TV as a consumer reporter, Hill’s talent earned her a coveted chair behind the station's 6:00 and 10:00 PM anchor desk. Since then, she has remained a cornerstone of New Orleans television broadcasting. In addition to her anchor duties, Angela's career has encompassed in-depth special reports and prime-time documentaries filed from the world capitals of London, Paris and Rome as well as China, Beirut and Africa.
During her career, Hill has garnered numerous local and national industry awards, including a regional Edward R. Murrow Award. She was inducted into the New Orleans Broadcasting Hall of Fame, and the Press Club of New Orleans honored her with its coveted Lifetime Achievement Award.
For seven years, Hill hosted the popular and critically-acclaimed "Angela Show," which ran weekday afternoons on WWL-TV. She created and hosted the daily talk show that highlighted local and national issues while also showcasing local and national talent in entertainment, business and academics.
Hill’s considerable journalistic skills remain a cornerstone of Channel 4 in her role as documentary producer and host, where she builds on her decades of reporting skills in a special format, building on a career as one of south Louisiana's most respected and beloved broadcast journalists.
