POWERHOUSE ‘JUDGE JUDY’ LIBRARY RENEWED FOR THREE MORE YEARS

CBS Stations and FOX Stations Reup Top-Rated Court Show on Television

LOS ANGELES – February 21, 2024 – The “Judge Judy” library was renewed for three more years by CBS Stations and FOX Stations, it was announced today by Greg Guenther, SVP Domestic Sales, CBS Media Ventures.

Gray Television and Hearst also signed on for multiple years.

“The ‘Judge Judy’ library is a powerful force on stations across the country,” Guenther said. “It draws viewers and boosts stations’ lineups, improving its new time periods on average by +40% among total viewers.”

“Judge Judy” continues to be the top-rated court show on television and ranks #4 among all syndicated shows this season. It averages 6.1 million total viewers, more than all the other syndicated court shows combined. “Judge Judy” recently hit a viewership high the week of January 8, where it averaged 6.7 million total viewers.

In New York, “Judge Judy” improved its time period on WCBS by +43% among total viewers this season.

“Judge Judy” originally aired in broadcast syndication from 1996 to 2021, leaving its mark as a genre-defining show after 25 seasons. Presided over by outspoken former Family Court Judge, Judge Judith Sheindlin, the series focused on small claims dispute from across the nation, often centering on family and internpersonal relationships. The show was an immediate hit when it premiered on September 16, 1996 and reigned as the #1 court show for its entire run. Judge Sheindlin’s sharpnin tongued, no-nonsense, decisive approach to justice established her as a pop-culture icon for generations of viewers.

Distributed by CBS Media Ventures, “Judge Judy” won three Daytime Emmys for “Outstanding legal Courtroom Program” and garnered a total of 22 nominations. Judge Sheindlin was honored with an Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement from The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2019 for her work on the show.
