Dr. Phil and Robin Kick-off This Year's TOYS FOR TOTS Campaign
Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife Robin, the national spokespeople for the U.S. Marines' Toys for Tots campaign, kicked off the organization's 60th anniversary last week, in the Appalachian communities of Bluefield, WV, and Tazewell, VA. Dr. Phil, noted psychologist and host of the hit syndicated daytime talk show DR. PHIL, now in its sixth season, and Robin McGraw, his wife and best-selling author, rode a special Norfolk Southern Railway train and distributed Hasbro and Tonka-brand toys to excited kids gathered at each town's train depot. At the local community centers, the McGraws announced the donation of musical instruments to Bluefield's Wade Center and, at Tazewell's Clinch Action Community Center, were distributed to the children there, courtesy of the Burlington Coat Factory. For some of the children, this was the first new coat they had ever received. One little girl was heard to remark, "It was the best day of my life!"
