Dr. Phil Attempts To Help Alexandra Deal With Her Complicated Custody

And Marital Issues On DR. PHIL, Monday, November 9th

(Hollywood, CA, November 6, 2009) - Dr. Phil invites Alexandra, her boyfriend Anthony, her estranged husband Chris and her mother Erin to the show in an effort to help them sort out complicated family issues that have put this group at constant odds.  While Alexandra and Chris seem headed for a divorce, caught in the middle are two young children that face an uncertain future if the two sides can't agree to stop disagreeing.  "DR. PHIL Family Returns: Alexandra - Divorce and Custody" airs Monday (check local listings).

In the middle of this family drama is 21-year-old Alexandra who is seeking custody of her children.  At the present time, her six-year-old son Nathan - from a previous relationship - is living with her parents.  This is a result of an agreement Alexandra signed when her son was an infant, which precludes Nathan from living in a home if his mother is cohabitating with a man who is not her husband, which at present is her situation with Anthony.

When asked by Dr. Phil if everything she has done is in Nathan's best interest, Alexandra replied, "I'm sure I can't give him everything my mom can, but nobody will ever love him more than I do."  Dr. Phil countered with, "There comes a point when you're a parent when you cross a threshold and you decide, ‘You know what?  The child's interest is more important than my own.'  As parents we have to sacrifice for our children."

Further complicating her life is that Alexandra's marriage to Chris has deteriorated and the two will soon begin a custody battle for their 20-month-old daughter Leilah.

Parents, Marty and Erin, and their daughters, Alexandra and Katherine, were the first Dr. Phil Family.  Their story debuted on the show during the fall of 2003.  They have once again reached out to Dr. Phil and will be featured throughout the season.
