ET EXCLUSIVE: JALEEL WHITE SETS RECORD STRAIGHT ON ABUSE CLAIMS
April 4, 2012 (Los Angeles, CA) -- ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT's NANCY O'DELL sat down with Dancing with the Stars standout Jaleel White, who opened up about having to defend himself against claims of physical abuse by his ex girlfriend, Bridget Hardy.
White tells Nancy there was "zero" physical abuse during the relationship and says Hardy's motives are rooted in money and only came forth now due to his high visibility on the hit ABC dancing competition. No charges were ever filed after Hardy made the allegations in 2010.
Speaking about the verbal abuse claims, White explained, "There was no verbal abuse. Couples argue, that's normal. I'm not going to pretend like we didn't have any arguments, obviously we broke up. But to say verbal abuse, and to come out with that during Dancing with the Stars, when this is an old child custody case matter that was settled in 2010, this is not a new story. It was an attack on my joy."
When asked whether Hardy demanded money before she went public with the allegations, he said he didn't allow it to happen. White explains that Hardy had asked for a meeting at a coffee shop but he requested that communication be made via email. "I have to assume that's what it's about -- if you're not going to put it in email form."
