ACCUSED “CRAIGSLIST KILLER” MIRANDA BARBOUR: IS SHE OR ISN’T SHE A SERIAL KILLER?

Dr. Phil Speaks Exclusively to Her Mother And Sister to Get Answers From Those Who Know Her Best

(Los Angeles, CA – April 25, 2014) - The mother and sister of alleged “Craigslist Killer” Miranda Barbour sit down with Dr. Phil to tell their account of what could possibly have led to Miranda’s jailhouse claim that she’d murdered over 20 people, in addition to the man she’s charged with killing.  In a story that quickly made national headlines, Miranda and her newlywed husband allegedly strangled and stabbed to death a man that police say they’d met earlier via Craigslist.  Shortly thereafter, while awaiting trial, Miranda made the stunning jailhouse confession that she had killed so many people, she’d lost count of the actual number.

Miranda’s mother Elizabeth and sister Ashley believe that it was the sexual abuse Miranda endured at the hands of her uncle when she was only three years old, and a string of other unhealthy relationships she’d experienced, that led her to become an alleged murderer. Despite her claims, however, they don’t believe that she is a mass murderer, and blame her fixation on violent television shows centered around serial killers for her stunning, and they believe fabricated, claim.

Dr. Phil challenges Elizabeth’s parenting skills raising her two daughters and questions choices she made along the way.  Dr. Phil drops a bombshell when he confronts her with a letter he received from Miranda in February, 2012 asking for help for a mother she described as very troubled.  Despite Elizabeth’s claim to have done everything she could as a mother, Ashley tells a different story.  Dr. Phil talks to the family about how to move forward, together.

“You two have a rough road ahead of you and you have another daughter at risk here, in my opinion,” Dr. Phil tells Elizabeth of her daughter, Ashley.  “She’s been though many of the same things that Miranda has been though.  She’s been victimized by Miranda.  She clearly feels a disconnect with you.”
