ET EXCLUSIVE | JUDGE JUDY REMEMBERS HER FRIEND JOAN RIVERS
April 23, 2015 (Los Angeles, CA) – As part of her series of interviews titled The Melissa Rivers Conversations for ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, television veteran Melissa Rivers sat down with Judge Judy Sheindlin where she opened up about her close friendship with Melissa’s late mother, comedic legend Joan Rivers. While discussing one of her favorite vacations with Joan when they visited colonial Williamsburg, Virginia with Cindy Adams, Judy divulges, “What probably most people don't know is the generous nature of the lady. She came with her usual suitcases but one suitcase was packed with tchotchkes, her jewelry and stuff to give away, to give to all the people who had made the arrangements and helped to get us into the right places so that we all could experience the candle making and the living in colonial times. She was acutely aware of the people that made her life comfortable and she was so readily open to showing them [her] appreciation and so gracious about it. People who knew her only as a brash, kind of outspoken, entertainer didn't see that part of the person. It was really a very special part. She's missed and every once in a while I still say to myself, you know that would be fun to tell Joan.”
Melissa and Judy also remember Judy’s visit to Joan while she was hospitalized revealing that Judy drove from Connecticut and brought DVD’s of her show to play for Joan while she was unconscious since it was always a treat of Joan’s to watch Judge Judy in the afternoon. Melissa went on to explain that she and her family continued playing the DVD’s because if anyone could wake her up, it would be Judy.
