A statement from INSIDE EDITION: 

"Our hearts are heavy as we share the news that our beloved Managing Editor and Senior Investigative Producer, Bob Read, passed away after a battle with COVID-19. Bob has been an integral part of Inside Edition since he joined the show in 1990.   

Under his incredible leadership, the show’s Investigative Unit produced numerous hard-hitting reports that earned many of journalism’s highest honors, including the prestigious George Polk Award, the Investigative Reporters and Editors Medal, the National Press Club Awards, and the Sigma Delta Chi Awards.  

He was a mentor to so many of our staff. His colleagues remember him as a brilliant journalist with extraordinary work ethic, as a devoted friend, and for the way he lit up when he would talk about his adored wife, Michele, and two children, Tyler and Casey. His passion, tireless energy, and grace under pressure inspired all of us to do our best work. 

It is a very sad day at Inside Edition, but Bob’s legacy will live on through the countless people whose careers he shaped. He was 60 years old. He will be missed tremendously."
