Rachel Smith

Correspondent & Weekend Host

Rachel Smith joined the top-rated, nine-time Emmy Award-winning entertainment newsmagazine, ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT, as a New York-based correspondent in 2019 for the show’s 39^th season. She became the host of ET’s weekend show in 2023.

During Smith’s time at ET, she has interviewed the likes of Rihanna, Oprah, Tom Cruise, Dolly Parton and Tom Brady. She has conducted major sit-down interviews with Shannon Doherty, the last before her passing, and Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Smith serves as ET’s talent on the Met Gala carpet, often getting viral interview with the stars on fashions biggest night.

For the past three years, Smith has hosted CBS’ “New Year’s Eve Line: Nashville’s Big Bash” and appeared in the CBS special “Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala” as a correspondent. She has made appearances on “CBS Mornings” and contributed to Drew’s News on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

Before joining ET, Smith hosted the ABC syndicated weekly series “On the Red Carpet” and has served a correspondent for both ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “Nightline.” Smith is an eight-time Emmy winner, including the first-ever Daytime Personality-Daily Emmy alongside the rest of the on-air hosting team in 2024.

Born in Panama where her parents were stationed on a U.S. Army base, Smith eventually moved stateside and grew up in Tennessee. She graduated magna cum laude from Belmont University in Nashville with a Bachelor of Science in journalism.

During her time at Belmont, Smith interned for Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions and later volunteered for a month at her South African-based Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. Smith was crowned Miss USA 2007 and went on to represent the United States at Miss Universe 2007 where she placed 4^th runner-up.
