“CBS THIS MORNING” LEAD NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT DAVID BEGNAUD NAMED ANCHOR OF CBS NEWS RADIO’S “REPORTER’S NOTEBOOK,” A DAILY FEATURE GIVING LISTENERS PERSPECTIVE AND CONTEXT ON THE ISSUES AFFECTING THE WORLD

CBS THIS MORNING lead national correspondent David Begnaud has been named anchor of “Reporter’s Notebook,” a daily feature from CBS News Radio and CBS Audio, it was announced today. “Reporter’s Notebook” with Begnaud will launch nationwide today, Monday, June 17, on the CBS News Radio Network.

Each edition of “Reporter’s Notebook” will give listeners insight and context to the day’s biggest news stories. Begnaud’s reports will be broadcast at 4:25 PM Monday through Friday.

David represents true compassion in his storytelling that affects our listeners,” said Craig Swagler, Vice President and General Manager of CBS News Radio. “Our affiliates can depend on David to bring the best original reporting to their audiences with ‘Reporter’s Notebook.’”

Reporter’s Notebook” has been providing CBS News Radio listeners the stories behind the headlines since 1981, and has featured some of the greatest journalists in CBS News history. Begnaud is the first anchor assigned to “Reporter’s Notebook” since 2011.

Begnaud was named lead national correspondent for CBS THIS MORNING in May 2019. He joined the Network in 2015, and his reporting, featured across all CBS News broadcasts and platforms including CBS THIS MORNING, the CBS EVENING NEWS, 48 HOURS, CBS SUNDAY MORNING and CBSN, has earned him some of journalism’s most prestigious awards. His coverage of Hurricane Maria earned him the prestigious George Polk Award for public service in 2018. Begnaud also received Radio Television Digital News Association’s First Amendment Leadership Award for his significant contribution to the protection of the First Amendment and freedom of the press.

At CBS News, Begnaud has covered major news stories around the world including the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Fla., the terrorist attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, Calif., and the devastating earthquake that hit Ecuador in April of 2016 and left hundreds dead and thousands injured. In the summer of 2017, he covered Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Begnaud’s coverage of important national and international stories is also featured prominently on CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 streaming news service.
