JUSTIN DRAPER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF CBS TELEVISION STATIONS’ SACRAMENTO PROPERTIES

Veteran local media executive Justin Draper has been named Vice President and General Manager of the CBS Television Stations’ Sacramento properties, KOVR-TV, KMAX-TV and CBSSacramento.com. The announcement was made today by Peter Dunn, President, CBS Television Stations.

A 23-year veteran of the CBS Television Stations group, Draper has served as the financial controller at KCBS-TV and KCAL-TV in Los Angeles since 2010. In his new role in Sacramento, he succeeds Jay Howell, who in June was named Vice President and General Manager of the group’s Pittsburgh properties, KDKA-TV, WPCW-TV and CBSPittsburgh.com.

Justin has been a key contributor to our success everywhere he has been during his more than two decades with our station group,” Dunn said. “His abilities and insights extend well beyond the finance department, as he has been heavily involved in every area of our operations for many years. We look forward to having him work with our talented team of employees in Sacramento and build on our success there with both our legacy broadcasting and rapidly growing digital platforms.”

It is a wonderful honor to continue my career with CBS by receiving this exciting opportunity to lead our operations in Sacramento,” Draper said. “As I take on this new role, I look forward to drawing on the great experience I gained in Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago and the Twin Cities, where our success was always the result of cohesive team efforts. I am grateful to Peter for his faith in me and look forward to continuing to work with him and his headquarters team. I also feel very fortunate to inherit a great group of employees in Sacramento who do an outstanding job of serving our viewers and working with our advertisers and community partners.”

Prior to joining KCBS and KCAL, Draper served as the financial controller at WBZ-TV and WSBK-TV in Boston, from 2006-10; WBBM-TV in Chicago, from 2003-06; and WCCO-TV in Minneapolis-St. Paul, from 1997-2003. He joined WCCO-TV in 1995 as the station’s assistant controller.

A Minnesota native, Draper earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
