ELECTION LAW EXPERT DAVID BECKER JOINS CBS NEWS AS A CONTRIBUTOR

CBS News announced today David Becker is joining CBS News as an election law expert, where he will contribute his insights and legal expertise leading up to and during the Network’s coverage on Election Night. Becker’s analysis will help viewers understand the implication of potential voting issues and challenges that emerge throughout this historic election.

Becker is the executive director and founder of the Center for Election Innovation & Research (CEIR), a nonpartisan nonprofit that works with election officials of both parties to ensure elections are secure and voters have confidence in election outcomes. Prior to founding CEIR, Becker was director of the elections program at the Pew Charitable Trusts. Before joining Pew, Becker served for seven years as a trial attorney in the voting section of the Department of Justice’s civil rights division, in both the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush administrations.

CBS News previously announced details for “America Decides: 2020” coverage, which focuses on critical voting issues, including changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, an influx of mail-in voting and a potential delay in results. Additional areas of coverage include investigating misinformation aimed at compromising democracy both by domestic actors and foreign interference and original reporting and interviews with voters from battleground states and throughout the country.
