CBS NEWS’ “CBS SUNDAY MORNING” DELIVERS ITS BEST AUDIENCE IN FIVE WEEKS AND MARKS ITS 627TH CONSECUTIVE WEEK AS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING NEWS PROGRAM

CBS News’ CBS SUNDAY MORNING posted its largest audience in five weeks and marked its 627th consecutive week as America’s #1 Sunday morning news program, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Jan. 3. Jane Pauley anchored the broadcast, which delivered 5.6 million viewers with 1.1 million of them in the adults 25-54, the demographic most desired by those who advertise in news.

Sunday’s broadcast featured senior contributor Ted Koppel’s report on the recent cyber security breach – the worst in our nation’s history – widely thought to have been orchestrated by Russia. Also, Gayle King, co-host of CBS THIS MORNING, caught up with comedian Chris Rock to talk about his career, race in America, the COVID-19 vaccine, and more. Chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett looked at what’s in store for lawmakers in Washington, D.C. in 2021. Anthony Mason, co-host of CBS THIS MORNING, talked with Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of The Bee Gees, about his latest album, his brothers and the resurgence of The Bee Gees following a critically acclaimed documentary.

Additionally, CBS News chief medical correspondent Dr. Jon LaPook talked with Dr. Sanjay Gupta about his new book Keep Sharp: Build a Better Brain at Any Age. CBS News correspondent emeritus Bob Schieffer offered reflections on 2020 using his personal artwork as illustrations. Mark Phillips looked at the global perspective on the year 2021. And Lee Cowan remembered the life and legacy of late ViacomCBS Chairman Sumner Redstone.
