48 HOURS: NCIS: “Ruthless” - NCIS agents detail the hunt for a serial rapist in Jacksonville, N.C., who appeared to be targeting women with military connections, in an encore of the season premiere of 48 HOURS: NCIS. Five of the victims were spouses of Marines and Navy personnel attached to Camp Lejeune.

NCIS formed a joint task force with the Jacksonville Police Department, who were able to connect the attacks. The rapist left behind few clues, and it wasn’t until two victims were attacked on the same night that investigators were able to get their first major leads. With the help of those two victims, the task force was able to apprehend him before he could strike again.

48 HOURS: NCIS is a six-part series from the award-winning team behind 48 HOURS that takes viewers inside the difficult cases faced by the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents, who investigate murders, track killers and use the latest technology to solve cases that once seemed unsolvable. Rocky Carroll, star of CBS’ drama series NCIS, narrates each edition.

48 HOURS: NCIS is regularly broadcast Tuesdays at 10:00 PM, ET/PT.

48 HOURS PRESENTS: “Live to Tell: Sophia’s Secret” - Sophia Putney-Wilcox was 17 when she had enough of the mental and physical abuse she’d suffered at the hands of then-boyfriend Adam Shigwadja. The decision to end their relationship would change her life forever. Anchored by Tracy Smith, this encore of “Live to Tell: Sophia’s Secret” is the inspiring story of a young woman’s fight to escape a cycle of abuse, her will to live after being hurt in an attack, and her work afterward to expose the growing dangers of dating and breakup violence.

Putney-Wilcox was a 14-year-old high-school freshman when she met Shigwadja, a 16-year-old sophomore. Their relationship started as a typical teenage romance, but quickly evolved into something darker. Shigwadja, she says, often threatened to hurt himself or her family as a way to control her and at one point was arrested for attacking her with a knife. She eventually broke up with Shigwadja, but days later he burst into her bedroom, held her at knifepoint and then he set her room on fire. In a gripping first-person account, Putney-Wilcox relives their relationship, the night she thought she would die, the heroic efforts of her brother to save her, and her life today.
