Maurice DuBois is an Emmy Award-winning journalist and co-anchor of the CBS EVENING NEWS in New York, the flagship evening broadcast on CBS News. He brings more than three decades of experience to the newscast; the last 14 years as co-anchor of CBS New York’s (WCBS) 5:00 and 11:00 PM newscasts.
DuBois joined CBS in 2004.
Throughout his career, DuBois has covered numerous breaking news stories, including everything from local news to national political conventions and elections, AIDS in South Africa, 9/11 and papal transition at the Vatican. He has moderated debates for New York governor, New York City mayor and Congress. DuBois has reported on a broad spectrum of American life and culture, interviewing numerous newsmakers including “Son of Sam” killer David Berkowitz, music star Cardi B, and the Central Park Five. He also witnessed and reported on a double execution.
DuBois has contributed reporting across CBS News programs and platforms, including 60 MINUTES SPORTS, CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING, 48 HOURS, CBS MORNINGS and the CBS News 24/7 Streaming Network. He has hosted specials on mental health, kids and violence, breast cancer and ticker-tape parades and telethons.
A Long Island native, DuBois spent seven years at WNBC-TV before joining CBS. At NBC News, he appeared on “Today,” “Weekend Today,” “Dateline NBC,” MSNBC and NBC News at Sunrise. While at WNBC-TV, DuBois hosted “Four Stories,” a television magazine profiling local heroes, and hosted Court-TV’s “Mind over Media,” for students to understand media images.
Prior to joining WNBC-TV, DuBois worked in Chicago and Sacramento. He began his career in 1987 at KING-TV in Seattle as a desk assistant before moving to reporting.
DuBois has won several journalism and community awards, including five Emmys. He’s also been recognized with honors from The Associated Press, The New York State Broadcasters Association and The New York Association of Black Journalists, which honored him with its Trailblazer Award.
DuBois has appeared as a news anchor in the feature films “Soul Men” and “Kick Ass” and CBS’ hit drama PERSON OF INTEREST.
He has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including Access Psychology Foundation, NY City Center, PENCIL, Susan G. Komen for the Cure/NYC and The Northside Center for Child Development.
DuBois is a graduate of Northwestern University, has four honorary PhDs and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a proud husband and father of two sons.
