Watch a Preview

Attorney Doug Emhoff, known as the second gentleman for being married to the first female Vice President Kamala Harris, says his wife is “the toughest person out there.” In a wide-ranging interview with Rita Braver for CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING, Emhoff talks about his time in Washington, his relationship with the vice president and more. Braver also talks with first lady Jill Biden and Harris about Emhoff in a story to be broadcast Sunday, June 23 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+.

Here's an excerpt of the interview:

RITA BRAVER: What’s your response when people are critical of your wife, because of course, they are?

DOUG EMHOFF: I’m her husband, nobody wants to see anyone they love criticized or attacked, but that said, she’s vice president of the United States … So all this comes with the territory. She’s the toughest person out there.

BRAVER: She’s tough?

EMHOFF: She’s so tough … it just bounces right off her.
