CBS News 24/7 Announcements
David Reiter, senior vice president CBS News 24/7, Special Events and Special Projects, shared this note with staff to announce expanded roles for Errol Barnett and Michael George.
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share two important and exciting updates for CBS News 24/7.
First, I’m pleased to announce that Errol Barnett is the new anchor of CBS Morning News at 7:00 AM, working with our amazing morning production and editorial team.
We are in great hands with Errol. He connects with our viewers and is a superb, Emmy-winning journalist. We saw that in real time when he anchored our live coverage of the Iranian missile attacks on Israel. He led CBS News 24/7’s coverage of former President Donald Trump's criminal trial, reporting from outside the lower Manhattan courthouse for weeks and delivering the historic verdict. Prior to his work on 24/7, he served as a Washington-based national correspondent for CBS News. I’ve known Errol for more than a decade, during his time reporting around the world for CNN and Channel One News. I know he’s excited to build on the momentum already underway in the morning and thankful for the awesome people who have built a faithful audience.
We all owe a huge thanks to Anne-Marie Green for her work at CBS News 24/7. Anne-Marie has done it all for the streaming service and has been on-air for natural disasters, shootings, space launches, routine news days, and much more. She has literally been the face of CBS News 24/7. As we announced earlier, Anne-Marie has joined the team at 48 Hours, where she’ll get a little more sleep and flex her reporting muscles with that award-winning team.
Michael George, who has done strong work for Newspath, steps into the anchor chair for CBS News Mornings at 4:00 AM.
We are also expanding the 24/7 show franchise. Starting today, this distinctive broadcast will add two new hours from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, ET. In June, we launched this new collaborative daytime format, anchored from our AR/VR studios and incorporating the best breaking, real-time storytelling from CBS News and Stations’ correspondents nationwide. Big thanks to our teams in SF and NY for making this happen.
The lineup changes are part of our commitment to being #1 in free streaming. At the core of our strategy is having more live hours filled with breaking news, live events and great storytelling to drive audiences and engagement. We know this is working.
It is an exciting time at CBS News 24/7, and there will be more updates soon. For now, please take a moment to congratulate Errol, Anne-Marie and Michael on these well-deserved new assignments.
