CBS ANNOUNCES 2002-2003 SCHEDULE
THAT MAKES A STRONG LINEUP EVEN STRONGER
Network Sees Growth On Every Night of the Week, With Established Hits Leading Into New Series And Returning Programs Leading Off All Seven Nights
Seventeen Series Return, Including Sophomore Series "The Guardian," "The Amazing Race" and "The Agency"
Highly Anticipated New Series "CSI: Miami" and "Without a Trace" Scheduled on Monday and Thursday, Respectively, Make Two Blockbuster Nights Even Bigger
CBS has announced seven new series, five dramas and two comedies, as part of a 2002-2003 schedule designed to build on the success and momentum of the past two seasons.
In the 2002-02 season, CBS won 19 weeks -- more than all the other networks combined. In addition, the Network continued to expand its base of young viewers, passing ABC and FOX in adults 18-49 among regularly scheduled programs.
To further enhance its lineup, the Network has placed two highly anticipated new series in key time periods to make its signature nights even stronger. CSI: MIAMI will be broadcast Mondays at 10:00 PM leading out of the Network's dominant comedy block. On Thursdays at 10:00 PM, the Network has scheduled Jerry Bruckheimer's new drama WITHOUT A TRACE, capping an evening in which CBS has already overtaken NBC from 8:00-10:00 PM with its SURVIVOR/CSI combination.
The schedule is designed to make a strong lineup even stronger, with potential for growth every night of the week. The Network is using its current hits to build new hits; established returning programs are leading off every night of the week, and the lineup of 10:00 PM dramas is the strongest in many years. In addition, the new series are stylish and cool, with a roster of quality actors and show-runners unrivaled by our competitors.
The new dramas are CSI: MIAMI, PRESIDIO MED, WITHOUT A TRACE, HACK and ROBBERY HOMICIDE DIVISION. The new comedies are STILL STANDING and BRAM AND ALICE.
Stars coming to the Network in the new season include Mark Addy, Andre Braugher, David Caruso, Blythe Danner, Dana Delany, Kim Delaney, Jami Gertz, Anthony LaPaglia, Alfred Molina, David Morse and Tom Sizemore. Exciting new faces include Sasha Alexander, Rory Cochrane, Oded Fehr, Enrique Murciano and Julianne Nicholson.

CBS also continues to offer a broad range of programming -- from edgy, hip dramas like CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and ROBBERY HOMICIDE DIVISION to wholesome dramas like TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL; from family comedies like YES, DEAR to the sophisticated humor of BRAM AND ALICE.
In addition to the seven new series, two programs have been ordered for mid-season: QUEENS SUPREME, an ensemble courtroom drama starring Oliver Platt, Robert Loggia and Annabella Sciorra; and BABY BOB, the returning comedy starring Adam Arkin, Joely Fisher, Elliott Gould, Holland Taylor and Marissa Tait (Ken Campbell provides the voice of Baby Bob).
The new dramas (all times ET/PT):
CSI: MIAMI (Monday, 10:00-11:00 PM) stars David Caruso ("NYPD Blue"), Kim Delaney ("NYPD Blue"), Emily Procter ("The West Wing"), Rory Cochrane ("Empire Records"), Adam Rodriguez ("Brooklyn South") and Khandi Alexander ("ER") in a fast-paced drama, inspired by the top-rated series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," about a team of forensic investigators who use both cutting-edge scientific methods and old fashioned police work to solve crimes. Horatio Caine (Caruso), a former homicide detective, heads a group of investigators who work crimes amid the steamy, tropical surroundings and cultural crossroads of Miami. His team includes Megan Donner (Delaney), a strong-minded forensic specialist who often butts heads with Caine; Calleigh Dusquene (Procter), a bilingual Southern beauty with a specialty in ballistics; Tim Speedle (Cochrane), a cocky yet disarming investigator who is well connected on the street, and Eric Delko (Rodriguez), an underwater recovery expert who knows all the twists and turns of the Florida waterways. Rounding out the team is Alexx Woods (Alexander), the no-nonsense, know-it-all coroner. Together, these investigators collect and analyze the evidence to solve the crimes and to vindicate those who often cannot speak for themselves -- the victims. Jerry Bruckheimer ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Black Hawk Down"), Carol Mendelsohn ("CSI"), Ann Donahue ("CSI"), Anthony Zuiker ("CSI") and Nancy Miller are the executive producers for Alliance Atlantis, in association with CBS Productions.
PRESIDIO MED (Wednesday, 10:00-11:00 PM) stars Blythe Danner ("Meet the Parents"), Dana Delany ("China Beach"), Anna Deavere Smith ("The West Wing"), Sasha Alexander ("Dawson's Creek"), Julianne Nicholson ("Ally McBeal") and Oded Fehr ("The Mummy") in a medical drama about hard-working physicians who run a tight-knit medical group adjacent to a hospital in San Francisco. The doctors at Presidio Medical Group, who set bureaucracy aside and put patients first, are Dr. Harriet Lanning (Danner), a veteran ob/gyn who still loves getting up in the middle of the night to deliver babies; Dr. Rae Brennan (Delany), an oncologist with a passionate, adventurous side; Dr. Letty Jordan (Smith), a headstrong, in-your-face cardiologist; Dr. Jackie Colette (Alexander), a brash young plastic surgeon; Dr. Jules Keating (Nicholson), a pediatrician who is confident and fiercely independent, and Dr. Nicholas Kokoris (Fehr), a surgeon who has just moved to San Francisco from Greece to join Presidio Med, and who is having an affair with one of the group's married physicians. Although their personal beliefs, unique experiences and medical specialties are sometimes at odds, each of these professionals is committed to going beyond the examining table and connecting on a

more personal level with their patients. John Wells ("The West Wing," "Third Watch," "China Beach"), Lydia Woodward ("St. Elsewhere," "China Beach") and Chris Chulack ("DEA," "Third Watch"), the original production team behind "ER," serve as executive producers for Lydia Woodward Productions and John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
WITHOUT A TRACE (Thursday, 10:00-11:00 PM) stars Anthony LaPaglia ("Murder One"), Enrique Murciano ("Black Hawk Down"), Poppy Montgomery ("Blonde"), Marianne Jean-Baptiste ("Spy Game") and Eric Close ("Now and Again") in a fast-paced procedural drama about the Missing Persons Squad of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The special FBI task force's sole responsibility is to find missing persons by applying advanced psychological profiling that will peel back the layers of the victims' lives to trace their whereabouts -- and discover whether they've been abducted, are missing by choice, were murdered or committed suicide. The team reconstructs a DOD (Day of Disappearance) timeline that details every minute of the 24 hours prior to the victim's disappearance, following one simple rule: learn who the victim is in order to learn where the victim is. Senior agent Jack Malone (LaPaglia) heads the dedicated team that knows too well that every second counts when someone vanishes. His team: Samantha Spade (Montgomery), an agent who doesn't let her good looks get in the way of being tough; Vivian Johnson (Jean-Baptiste), a no-nonsense investigator; Danny Taylor (Murciano), who is intense and private, and Martin Fitzgerald (Close), the newest member of the team and considered a lightweight because his only experience involves fighting white collar crime. Jerry Bruckheimer ("CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "Black Hawk Down"), Jonathan Littman ("CSI"), Ed Redlich ("The Practice"), David Nutter ("Band of Brothers") and Hank Steinberg ("61*") are executive producers for Jerry Bruckheimer Television in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Productions.
HACK (Friday, 9:00-10:00 PM) stars David Morse ("Proof of Life," "The Green Mile") and Andre Braugher ("Homicide: Life on the Street") in a drama about Mike Olshansky (Morse), an ex-cop turned taxi driver who seeks redemption for a fall from grace by fighting for and righting the wrongs of others. Once a decorated police officer, Mike is abruptly let go from the force after he's caught taking money from a crime scene. Now he must get used to a new life as a cabbie with a boss, Nicolai Zosimov (Mark Margolis), who's always riled up about something, and long days and nights that require a steady supply of caffeine and eye drops. When one of Mike's passengers is beaten by a group of thugs and another fare asks Mike to help him locate his daughter, he realizes he can still use his police know-how to help those in need. As he contemplates moonlighting as a crime solver, Mike seeks support and assistance from his longtime friends including, Marseilles Washington (Braugher), his former partner who owes his job to Mike since they share a secret that could shatter Marseilles' own police career. Marseilles, forever in Mike's debt, gives him inside information that Mike needs to help others, and in return, Mike can go places for Marseilles that a cop just can't go. Father Tom "Grizz" Grzelak (George Dzundza, "Law & Order") is both Mike's drinking buddy and forthright friend. At home, Mike has a lot of issues to resolve with his estranged wife, Heather

(Donna Murphy), and son, Michael Jr. (Conor O'Farrell). The closer he examines his own life, the more he finds himself unable to stop from intervening in the lives that flow in and out of the back of his cab. Acclaimed screenwriter David Koepp ("Spider-Man," "Panic Room," "Jurassic Park"), film and television producer Gavin Polone ("Panic Room," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Gilmore Girls") and director Thomas Carter ("UC Undercover," "Save the Last Dance") are executive producers for Big Ticket Television in association with CBS Productions.
ROBBERY HOMICIDE DIVISION (Friday, 10:00-11:00 PM)) stars Tom Sizemore ("Black Hawk Down," "Pearl Harbor") in a compelling drama about the Robbery and Homicide Division of the present-day Los Angeles Police Department. Intense, bold and dead smart, the detectives in this elite unit work only high-profile crime wherever it occurs in Los Angeles. The team is headed by Detective Sam Coleman (Sizemore) -- sometimes outrageous, always strategic. Also on the squad is Detective Archie Simms (Barry "Shabaka" Henley), with a droll sense of humor and high level of skill with a shotgun. Detective Sonya Robbins (Klea Scott) is Spanish-speaking and specializes in pathology. Detective Richard Barstow (David Cubitt) and Detective Ron Lu (Michael Paul Chan) come from LA's Pacific Rim Gang Unit. Together, Coleman's unit will confront the city's highest-profile crimes and the criminals who commit them. Michael Mann ("The Insider," "Ali") is the executive producer for Forward Pass, Inc. in association with Universal Television.
The new comedies:
STILL STANDING (Monday, 9:30-10:00 PM) stars Mark Addy ("The Full Monty") and Jami Gertz ("It's Always Something: The Gilda Radner Story") in a comedy about Bill and Judy Miller, a blue collar Chicago couple trying to raise their three children responsibly without losing sight of their own youthfulness. After 15 years of marriage, these former high school sweethearts still make each other laugh and try to keep their marriage intact -- even when their family pulls them in different directions. Judy's single sister, Linda (Jennifer Irwin), butts heads with Bill, and the Millers' precocious teenage daughter, Lauren (Renee Olstead), thinks her parents are uncool. That alone would be a handful, but their uptight studious son, Brian (Taylor Ball), is just discovering girls and their youngest, Tina (Soleil Borda), would prefer to run around naked. Since Bill has a far more immature approach to marriage and raising children than Judy does, they work at striking a balance and remembering why they love each other -- quirks and all. Diane M. Burroughs ("Yes, Dear") and Joey Guttierrez ("Yes, Dear") are executive producers for Twentieth Television in association with CBS Productions.
BRAM AND ALICE (Sunday, 8:00-8:30 PM) stars Alfred Molina ("Chocolat") and Traylor Howard ("Two Guys, a Girl") in a comedy about the shaky relationship between an incorrigible scoundrel of a novelist and his devoted fan -- who suddenly learn they are father and daughter. Bram Shepherd (Molina) is a renowned Pulitzer Prize-winning author who has coasted on his reputation for years but is still required reading on campuses throughout the country. Alice O'Connor (Howard) is an idealistic young woman on the verge of giving up her dream of becoming a writer and returning to

Vermont when she learns that her idol, Shepherd, is her father. Their first meeting is a disaster: Bram inadvertently confesses he never wanted a child and barely remembers he ever fathered one. Alice perceives Bram as a fast-talking, hard-drinking woman-chaser -- all of which he is. Nonetheless, they decide to forge a relationship and Alice agrees to move into Bram's New York apartment. Included in their world are Paul Newman (Roger Bart), a levelheaded assistant who tries to keep Bram on an even keel; Michael (Michael Rispoli), a former Catholic priest who serves cocktails along with wry advice in the bar on the ground floor of Bram's apartment building, and Katie (Katie Finneran), an eccentric, self-centered neighbor involved with a mysterious Japanese boyfriend. Now that a new page has been turned, Bram and Alice will have to make some adjustments in order to write the next chapter in their very different lives -- or at least, to get along as father and daughter and roommates. Joe Keenan & Christopher Lloyd ("Frasier") are the writers and executive producers for Paramount Network Television.
The new drama ordered for mid-season:
QUEENS SUPREME stars Oliver Platt ("Bulworth"), Robert Loggia ("Jagged Edge") and Annabella Sciorra ("The Sopranos") in a seriocomic drama that delves into the chaos, infighting and colorful personalities of the people behind-the-bench and behind-the-scenes at the Queens County courthouse in New York City. Jack Moran (Platt) is a brilliant, cynical judge whose integrity and wisdom are often overshadowed by his non-conformist and occasionally bizarre courtroom behavior. The amiable, fair-minded and respected Thomas O'Neill (Loggia), the highest-ranking judge at the courthouse, tends to be the voice of reason as he works to keep his fellow judges' egos, agendas and eccentricities in check. And despite the whispers regarding her lack of experience, the young, attractive and feisty newly-appointed judge, Kim Vicidomini (Sciorra), is quickly proving that her political connections and legal savvy are an asset both in and out of the courtroom. But for the hard-working, brutally frank Judge Rose Barnea (L. Scott Caldwell), the "jury's still out" regarding Kim, and she's not afraid to let her know it. Carmen (Marcy Harriell) and Mike (James Madio) are the able, ever-helpful legal assistants who are surprised by very little. The judges, although often at odds, are completely dedicated to the legal process and, when push comes to shove, to each other. Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Kevin Fox ("Ryan Caulfield"), Academy Award-winner Julia Roberts ("Erin Brockovich") and Deborah Schindler ("How Stella Got Her Groove Back") are the executive producers for Shoelace Productions in association with CBS Productions. Tim Robbins ("Dead Man Walking") directed.
