“THE SEC ON CBS” FEATURES NO. 22-RANKED GEORGIA TAKING ON FLORIDA ON SATURDAY, OCT. 29

Audibles with CBS Sports’ Lead College Football Analyst Gary Danielson

CBS Sports’ coverage of the SEC ON CBS continues on Saturday, Oct. 29 (3:30 PM, ET) with a national broadcast of *No. 22-ranked Georgia taking on Florida.

The CBS Television Network’s lead college football announce team of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson call the action live from EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla. Tracy Wolfson serves as lead reporter. Craig Silver, the Network’s coordinating producer of college football, produces and Steve Milton directs.

Coverage kicks off with CBS COLLEGE FOOTBALL SPECIAL (2:30-3:00 PM, ET)  followed by COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY, the Network’s pre-game, halftime and post-game studio show at 3:00 PM, ET. Tim Brando hosts along with analysts Spencer Tillman and Tony Barnhart. Vin DeVito produces and Linda Malino directs. Harold Bryant is Executive Producer and Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.

Following Saturday’s game, CBSSports.com will stream the “5th Quarter with Gary Danielson,” an interactive show produced live from the SEC ON CBS CRUISER, an all-access mobile media vehicle. (ON BCS AND GEORGIA)

One of the inequities of the BCS is that it does not exactly measure a team like Georgia. The Bulldogs started out with a rookie running back who is now just starting to come into his own. They also had to start the season off playing a veteran football team in Boise State. And once you lose early, as they did, you are kind of forgotten about.

(ON FLORIDA AND QUARTERBACK JOHN BRANTLEY)

Florida is all about John Brantley, and what they’ve been without him. The interesting thing is his injury has not only affected their offense, it has also impacted their defense. Since he’s been hurt their defense has not turned the ball over. It seems they have not only lost the fire power on offense, but also on defense, which is not helping win any of these games.

Georgia must prove they can stop the run. They’ve gotten bigger and stronger on defense. When they stop the run they have a chance to win any football game.  Aaron Murray had one of those feast-famine games last year during this game.  Murray is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league.  But can he get over the hump?

Both teams are used to handling this media crush. It is not anything new for either team. They always are in the center of the media on-slaught. They’ve dealt with it through their whole careers. Even as kids in high school who signed letters of intent with these schools, they are used to it. The grandness of this match-up will not have a bearing on this football game. Looking at the matchups, there is no significant advantage at any position. There are plusses and minuses and strengths and weaknesses, and perhaps small opportunities that both teams can exploit, but there is no significant advantage on the field that can tilt the game.
