Discusses the Man He Used to Call His Step-Father
Also Interviewed Are Stiles' Biological Son and His Mother
Hollywood, CA - October 16, 2007 - In an exclusive interview, Dr. Phil spoke with the mother of the child whose sexual molestation was allegedly videotaped several years ago by pedophile suspect and convicted felon Chester Stiles, who was arrested last night in Henderson, Nevada, when DR. PHIL NOW airs Wednesday, October 17 (Check local listings for time and channel).
Acquiescing to the mother's request to protect her identity, Dr. Phil spoke with her after the news of Stiles' capture broke and asked how she felt. "Relieved," she said. "It'd be better if they found him dead, but relieved they got him. I never thought I would say that about anyone in my life. I'd be more than willing to do it myself."
When she adds, "I just keep beating myself up for it, that I let this happen to her," Dr. Phil offers her advice on how to deal with her guilt over her daughter's molestation.
Todd Allen, the 23-year-old son of Tina Allen, Stiles' most-recent girlfriend, speaks out about the man he was once asked to call step-father.
According to Allen, his mother had been warned of a previous molestation alleged to Stiles, but continued her intimate relationship with him.
"Many people have tried to get her to push him out of our lives. We, her children, have threatened multiple times to turn her and him over to the police because she's always known where he's been," says Allen.
When Dr. Phil asks Allen about whether his mother knew about the whereabouts of one of the FBI's most-wanted felons, Allen replies, "At this point, part of me believes so, part of me hopes to God that she didn't."
Stiles' biological son commented on the father, with whom he once had a close relationship. His mother also made chilling allegations about domestic and sexual abuse at the hands of Stiles.
"I want him to go away for a long time," says Stiles' son, whose identity is also being protected.
Stiles, who has had multiple previous felony convictions including battery of a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and conspiracy to commit grand larceny, was caught Monday night, October 15, in Henderson, Nevada, after a weeks-long manhunt. According to the police report, he was arrested after a roadside traffic stop and produced a driver's license that wasn't his. When questioned, Stiles identified himself as the subject of the nationwide search and gave himself up without a struggle, according to police.
Stiles was arrested and booked on 21 separate charges, including lewd acts and molestation. He faces up to 14 consecutive life sentences if convicted.
Other guests on this episode included Jerry Donahue, attorney to the victim and her mother; Bob Beckett, the district attorney in Nye County, Nevada; and Jesse Corona, reporter from NBC's Las Vegas affiliate, KVBC-TV.
DR. PHIL NOW is a new platform introduced this season to specifically focus on breaking news analysis, and events that capture America's attention.
