Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver James Lofton joined CBS Sports in May 2017 as an analyst for THE NFL ON CBS.

Lofton served as the lead game analyst for Westwood One’s radio coverage of Sunday Night Football from 2009-16. He joined Westwood One in 2000, but left for coaching stints with the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders for seven years before returning in 2009. He will call selected Monday Night Football games for Westwood One this season, as well as call preseason games for the Green Bay Packers alongside Kevin Harlan. Lofton’s previous broadcast stints included both CNN and NBC Sports.

Enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2003, Lofton was the No. 1 draft pick of the Green Bay Packers in 1978, beginning a long career as an NFL wide receiver. In 16 seasons playing for Green Bay, the Los Angeles Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, he caught 764 passes for 14,004 yards, which was the most in NFL history at the time of his retirement. In 13 playoff games, Lofton caught 41 passes for 759 yards and eight touchdowns, including a seven-reception game in Super Bowl XXVI.

Lofton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University in 1978 where he also was an Academic All-American in football in 1977, and an NCAA Track and Field champion in the Long Jump in 1978.

Lofton grew up in Los Angeles and currently resides in San Diego with his wife, Beverly. They have three children, David, Daniel and Rachel, and three grandchildren, Jaxon, Olivia and Samuel.
