Ian Paul Joy is an analyst for CBS Sports’ coverage of UEFA Champions League and Europa League, and serves as an analyst for CBS SPORTS GOLAZO NETWORK, including as co-host of the Network’s weekday afternoon studio show, BOX 2 BOX. Joy also serves as co-host of CBS Sports’ soccer podcast House of Champions and contributes to CBS Sports HQ and SportsLine.

Joy played more than 250 league matches for five different teams in England, Scotland, Germany and in MLS. Joy’s pro career started in Scotland before he moved on to England and then to Germany, playing for Hamburger SV and then FC St Pauli in the Bundesliga. In 2008 after joining MLS’ Real Salt Lake, he helped the team reach the playoffs that year for the first time in franchise history. Joy returned to Germany for a brief spell before accepting an offer to captain the 2010 Portland Timbers team in his final season as a player. 

Previously, Joy was an analyst for YES Network’s coverage of NYCFC and hosted the interview show Joy To The World on YES Network and Joy to Baseball on YES’ social media platforms. For his work, Joy has been nominated for three New York Sports Emmys. Joy has also been an analyst for FOX Sports, beIN and several MLS teams.
