CBS 2 NEW YORK ANNOUNCES DATES FOR NEW YORK CITY MAYORAL DEBATES
CBS 2 and WLNY 10/55 Will Partner with WCBS Newsradio 880, 1010 WINS
and Common Cause New York to Present Primary Debate on June 2 and
General Election Debate on Oct. 6
NEW YORK – Jan. 5, 2021 – CBS 2 New York today announced its plans to air debates between candidates for New York City mayor later this year.
Since 2010, CBS 2 New York, sister station WLNY 10/55 and their co-sponsors WCBS Newsradio 880, 1010 WINS and Common Cause New York have been the leading organizers and broadcasters of debates between candidates for New York City mayor, New York governor and New Jersey governor.
Prior to the June 22 primary election, CBS 2 New York, WLNY 10/55, WCBS Newsradio 880, 1010 WINS and Common Cause are planning to hold a primary debate between leading Democratic candidates on Wednesday, June 2 from 7:00-8:00 PM. CBS 2 New York and its partners will also plan a separate primary debate between leading Republicans in the event there are multiple viable Republican candidates.
Before the general election on Nov. 2, CBS 2 New York and its partners plan to hold a debate between the leading candidates for New York City mayor on Wednesday, Oct. 6 from 7:00-8:00 PM.
All of these debates will be broadcast by CBS 2 New York, WLNY 10/55 (Spanish language translation), WCBS Newsradio 880 and 1010 WINS. In addition, the debates will be distributed by CBSN New York, CBS 2’s live local news streaming service.
Additional information regarding the debates will be announced at a later date.
CBS 2 New York’s commitment to serving its viewers will also include half-hour interviews with all registered candidates on the ballot. These interviews will be streamed on CBSN New York. CBS 2 also plans to provide information on the new Rank Choice Voting System that is being introduced in time for the New York City mayoral primary election.
