STEPHANIE SAVAGE
Executive Producer of “Nancy Drew”
Stephanie Savage is a prolific television and feature film writer/producer and co-founder of Fake Empire, an entertainment production company.
From “Welcome to the O.C., Bitch,” to “XOXO,” Savage’s television projects have become instant pop culture phenomena, leading The New York Times to refer to her, and frequent collaborator and Fake Empire co-founder Josh Schwartz, as “the Pied Pipers of Teen Angst.” Savage’s television credits include “The O.C.,” “Gossip Girl,” and the series “Astronaut Wives Club,” based on the bestselling same-name novel.
Savage and Schwartz are executive producers on “Marvel’s Runaways.” The series is based on the cult classic comic which focuses on a group of teenagers who discover that their parents lead a sinister crime organization.
On the features side, Savage and Schwartz have recently completely an adaptation of Sarah Pinborough’s novel “13 Minutes,” described as “Mean Girls meets The Secret History for the Instagram age.”
Prior to writing and executive producing “The O.C.,” Savage formed Wonderland Sound and Vision with director McG. It was there that she developed “The O.C.” with Schwartz. Savage began her career as VP of Development at Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films. During her stint at Flower, she helped develop the feature films “Never Been Kissed,” “Donnie Darko” and “Charlie’s Angels.”
Canadian-born Savage first came to Los Angeles from the University of Iowa, where she taught film history and theory while working on her PhD. She is the published author of several scholarly articles on true crime, scandal and pornography.
