Damon Wayans is a multi-talented actor, comedian, writer and producer known worldwide for his no-holds-barred comedic genius. Wayans is universally hailed for portraying his sketch characters like “Homey the Clown,” “Handiman” and “Blaine” from the “Men on Film” sketch in the Emmy Award-winning series “In Living Color.” Wayans earned two personal Emmy nominations for his writing on the series.
Wayans has had tremendous success in stand-up. After starting his career in 1982 touring the comedy club circuit, he landed a role as a featured player on the famed series “Saturday Night Live.” Wayans went on to star in his own critically acclaimed stand-up specials “One Night Stand,” “The Last Stand” and “Still Standing.”
On television, Wayans starred in a remake of the hit movie franchise, “Lethal Weapon,” “The Underground” and “413 Hope Street,” for which he was nominated for a People’s Choice Award. Wayans served as an executive producer on “Waynehead” and “My Wife and Kids,” which received the 2002 People’s Choice Award for Favorite New Television Comedy Series and Favorite Male Performer in a New Television Series for his portrayal of Michael Kyle.
On the big screen, Wayans has starred in Spike Lee’s critically acclaimed film “Bamboozled.” He also starred and executive produced independent film “Harlem Aria.” Other feature film credits include starring roles in “Major Payne,” “Blankman” and “Mo Money,” all of which he wrote and executive produced. Wayans’ other film credits include “The Great White Hype,” “Celtic Pride,” “The Last Boy Scout,” “Earth Girls are Easy,” “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka,” “Colors,” “Punchline,” “Hollywood Shuffle,” “Roxanne Beverly Hills Cop” and “Cinnamon.”
In addition to his work in-front of the camera, Wayans is a New York Times Bestselling author. His author credits include “Bootleg,” “Red Hats,” “Super Niger: Yo I Got Superpowers!” and “Welcome to Wastebook.”
Wayans comes from a family deeply rooted in entertainment, with siblings Keenen, Kim, Marlon and Shawn also making their mark in the industry. Wayans lives in Los Angeles. Follow him on Instagram @damonkwayans.
