- Shawn Ryan
Shawn Ryan is an Emmy Award-nominated writer and producer. He serves as the showrunner of S.W.A.T., a series he co-created with Aaron Rahsaan Thomas, as well as on the drama series “Timeless,” which he co-created with Eric Kripke.
Ryan has an overall deal with Sony Pictures Television through which he is in development on multiple projects, including an upcoming miniseries with Bod Odenkirk and Eileen Myers for AMC.
Ryan created and executive produced the critically acclaimed series “The Shield” and “The Chicago Code,” and he co-created “Last Resort” with Karl Gajdusek.
Also, Ryan wrote and executive produced the series “Terriers” with Ted Griffin, “Mad Dogs” with Cris Cole and “The Unit” with David Mamet, on the Network. His additional television credits include “Angel,” “Life with Louie” and “Nash Bridges,” on the Network.
Ryan holds a joint bachelor’s degree in economics and theater from Middlebury College in Vermont, where he first began writing plays.
Born and raised in Rockford, Ill., Ryan was influenced by the writings of David Mamet, with whom he would later work, as well as Tom Stoppard, Barry Levinson and everyone who worked on the iconic series “Cheers.”
