- Michael Emerson
As one of the most memorable character actors on television, Michael Emerson continues to wow audiences as Leland Townsend on EVIL, returning for its second season this June on Paramount+.
Widely known for captivating and mysterious roles, he has received the Emmy Award twice; first as Best Guest Actor/Drama on “The Practice” in 2001 and again in 2009 as Best Supporting Actor/Drama for his performance as Benjamin Linus on “Lost.” Variety called him “one of the greatest villains in television history.”
Emerson’s television credits include starring roles in CBS’ hit series “Person of Interest” and the mini-series “The Name of the Rose,” based on the best-seller by Umberto Eco. Among his many guest appearances are roles on “Without a Trace,” “Law & Order,” “The X-Files” and “Parenthood.”
His film work includes “The Laramie Project,” “The Legend of Zorro,” “The Imposters” and the first of the “Saw” movies.
Emerson lives in New York with his wife, actress Carrie Preston, and their dog Chumley. He has a BFA degree from Drake University and an MFA from the conservatory at The Alabama Shakespeare Festival. His stage credits include Broadway, Off-Broadway and many regional theaters.
