Heather Kadin is an accomplished producer whose body of work spans a wide range of television and film. Currently, Kadin serves as president of television at Alex Kurtzman’s production company, Secret Hideout, and previously, she worked with Kurtzman at K/O Paper Products, where she also served as president of television.
Under Secret Hideout’s overall deal with CBS Studios, Kadin is involved in expanding the “Star Trek” universe on CBS All Access, including the award-winning STAR TREK: DISCOVERY; the critically acclaimed STAR TREK: PICARD featuring Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard; the Emmy-nominated STAR TREK: SHORT TREKS, a series of short stories tied to Discovery and the overall “Star Trek” universe; and the new animated series STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS. Kadin and Secret Hideout also have several projects in production and in development including STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS, featuring beloved characters Pike and Spock, which was recently ordered to series for CBS All Access, and “Star Trek: Prodigy,” a new CG-animated series targeted for a younger audience from writers Kevin and Dan Hageman, in production for Nickelodeon. In addition, Secret Hideout is in development on a “Star Trek” project based on SECTION 31, with Michelle Yeoh attached to star.
Other projects in development for which she serves as executive producer alongside Kurtzman and Secret Hideout include the Showtime series “The Comey Rule” based on James Comey’s book A Higher Loyalty, and “Kavalier and Clay,” an adaptation of Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay. Kadin is also set to executive produce THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH, based on Walter Tevis’ novel of the same name for CBS All Access, and CBS’ upcoming series CLARICE, a sequel to the Academy Award-winning film “Silence of the Lambs,” and a limited series titled “Blackbird: Lena Horne and America” also for Showtime.
Kadin began her television career in 2000 at ABC, where she worked closely with J.J. Abrams and future collaborators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on “Alias.” During her time at ABC, Kadin was an integral part in the development of some of the network’s longest-running series including “Grey’s Anatomy.”
In 2004 Kadin joined Warner Bros. Television, where she reteamed with Abrams, Orci and Kurtzman to develop the cult series “Fringe.” Kadin also played an instrumental role in the development of other celebrated shows including “The Closer,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “Supernatural.” Additionally, she served as an executive producer on FOX’s hit series “Sleepy Hollow.”
Since joining Alex Kurtzman at K/O Paper Products and then Secret Hideout, Kadin has served as an executive producer on “Salvation,” “Scorpion” and “Instinct,” all on CBS.
Prior to her career in television, Kadin ran Tom Shadyac’s Shady Acres Entertainment. While part of the production company, Kadin worked on feature film projects such as “Patch Adams,” “Bruce Almighty” and “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.”
